How to apply for a grant

To apply for a grant, please read all the provided information including the Croydon Relief in Need Grant-making Policy. Please download and fill in the relevant form and return it by email or post. Our contact details are here.

Are you eligible?

Group Structure You are a registered Charity, CIC, Not for Profit Company or a Community Group (with a Committee and constitution)
Local You will use the CRiN funding for the benefit of Croydon residents (we accept a minority may be from neighbouring areas)
Community roots You understand your community’s needs and this is reflected in the development of your project
Good Governance You will have a clear management structure and appropriate policies in place, particularly Safeguarding. You will have an organisation’s bank account. You will be able to provide financial records.

CRiN funding and how it can be used

Activities that will not normally be supported: Arts or education unless they support individuals in hardship;
Activities which solely support animal welfare;
Contributions to general appeals or circulars;
Public bodies to carry out their statutory obligations;
Activities which have already taken place;
Grant-making by other organisations.
Non-charitable limited companies or limited partnerships.
CRiN’s current priorities: Older people (60 year and older) who are experiencing hardship;
Young people (up to 25 years old) who are experiencing hardship;
People living in the more deprived areas of the borough
How the funds can be used: The funding can be used in various ways depending on need. For example; purchasing equipment, venue hire, staffing costs.

Available funds: Organisations can apply for a maximum of £30,000, there is no minimum. Higher amounts will often be spread over 2 or 3 years.

Grants for individuals can be made for up to £1,000

Organisations must wait for 1 year from the end of their current funding period before reapplying.
Application process and support: The Engaging Communities Committee meets 2 times a year. Completed CRiN application forms must be submitted with all supporting documentation prior to the deadlines listed below. For Individual’s Grants please contact our Community Development Officer, Bec Yusuf.

Initial project plans or draft applications can be shared with Bec. We expect all potential applications to be in contact prior to submission. This helps to ensure your application is eligible and all relevant information has been included.

When to apply

CRiN Grant application deadlines for 2024:

Round 1 - Tuesday 19th March, 12pm

Round 2 - Tuesday 8th October, 12pm

Applicants will be notified about the outcome of their application 5 weeks after the deadline date.
